I have about 37 travel mugs. My favorite until the Contigo was my Pink (Komen) Trudeau. Not any more.
Our new car has beige leather interior - one coffee spill and there WILL be a spot - I wanted a travel mug that my wife couldn't spill. The Contigo is it!
I read some reviews that weren't 100%, and at $37 for two, I was hesitant. But with Amazon's "No Hassle Returns" policy, I felt confident - so I ordered a pair.
These things are simple - Put coffee in the mug, screw on top. You're done. If you want any, and I mean even a single drop of coffee (or any liquid) to come out, you MUST PRESS THE BUTTON!
You can turn it upside-down and shake it - no drips! (But remember, shaking a hot liquid builds pressure, when you're done convincing yourself that it won't drip. Aim the opening away and press the button to release the pressure!)
IT JUST GETS BETTER! - This thing is the best thermos device I've seen! A lot of travel mugs claim to have double-walls, insulation, and the ability to keep things HOT or COLD - but this mug delivers!
The outside stays cool, not warm - cool. But the coffee inside stays very hot! for hours - enough so that if your Keurig is set @ 192°, you should be very careful getting used to this mug - I recommend test driving it around the house before actually driving with it.
Update 02/21/2010 - Came here to add more accolades and found the price has gone UP! I paid $36 and now they're (the pair) up to $45. Well, they're still worth it! Last week while sitting, I'd just taken a drink when in the process of putting the mug down, I'd miss-calculated the edge of the table and it fell over towards me. Had it been any other mug my laptop, as well as my shirt and lap would have been drenched in 192° coffee. Nary a drop came forth from the Contigo. The 2 friends sitting with me immediately went to Amazon.com and ordered Contigo mugs for themselves. |

I bought this set for myself and a friend (found it at Costco). She wanted something that her toddler couldn't open easily and I wanted something to keep my drink hot/warm for a while since I am not a fast drinker. This is perfect! The lid screws on easily, but is not easy for little hands to get around and open. I don't drink coffee, but tea and hot chocolate. I will put my hot tea in it and even 2-3 hours later it is still warm--not steaming anymore, but still warm enough to drink. I left it in my car the other day while I was in the store shopping for an hour and came back out and it was still warm (it was about 50 degrees outside).
It is dishwasher safe, so it is even easy to clean. I usually just rinse it out when I am done...I also push the "open" button and run water through the lid to rinse it out, too.
I've tried different mugs before, but none of them kept my drinks this warm for so long. I'm very happy with my purchase!

| I received these coffee mugs as a gift and am very impressed. The beverage will stay hot for hours and will not spill. They are easy to clean and well built. Did I mention, it will not spill. :-D |

We received a set of these last Christmas, and love them. We bought a bunch for the rest of the family for this Christmas.
Pros:
-- The auto-seal is great! No more spilled coffee because you forgot to close it.
-- The button is right hand/left hand ambidextrous
-- The shape is good for small hands
-- Keeps coffee hot for a few hours.
Cons:
-- It is very narrow, which makes it difficult to clean.
-- The mechanism in the lid is a little difficult to clean.
* We resolved both of these issues with a Munchkin baby bottle brush Munchkin Healthflow Bottle & Nipple Brush , 1 brush, and even included the brush in the gift with the mugs. |
