Good vacuum, great price

I live in a 2 bedroom apartment (~700 sq feet) with hardwood floors and very limited carpeting. I purchased this vacuum to get rid of the dust bunnies created by my 3 very energetic cats. So far the vacuum has great suction, given that the collection container is relatively empty. I'm not quite sure how effective the vacuum would be in a fully carpeted place, but 3 cats can shed enough fur to make an uncarpeted place seem carpeted, or at the very least make fur your most frequently consumed item.

Before purchasing this vacuum, I did a good amount of research on several vacuums, including this one, the Dirt Devil the Euro Pro Shark and the Hoover Telios which all retail around the same price (~$100).

I decided against the Hoover Telios as a couple of reviewers said the wand constantly detached from the hose, which defeats the purpose of the vacuum. As far as the Euro Pro Shark goes, I tried one in Sears and was happy with the suction power but multiple reviewers said the suction power decreased drastically after the first couple of weeks. The bad customer service to go along with decreased suction steered me far away.

Conveniently, the Dirt Devil received a couple of positive reviews. To go with that, Amazon gave me a good discount (~30?, don't quite remember) for opening a credit account.

I'm happy with this vacuum even though it isn't a Dyson or Electrolux which costs 5x more and maybe 2x as effective for my needs.

I have no carpet in my home except for a few throw rugs. It was very hard to sweep thoroughly all the tough places like behind furniture and under tables, etc. I knew what I wanted and the Dirt Devil was IT!!! I am able to clean my floors better than with a regular broom. Not only does it pick up dirt, but dust as well. The canister is so very easy to empty. It is great! I am so glad a found this item and at the great price.

I love this vac. I have had it now for 2 days and it is light, easy to use , empty and carry. I am a mom of a bunch of kids and it picks up everything, comes with everything. And the cord retracts for a really vac. I like the metal adjustable wand don't have to worry about the kids taking off with an extension wand. I was able to get this vac for $99.00 at Kmart.

This vacuum is great. It works really good on hardwoodfloors and rugs. The suction is really strong.
It is easy to empty the canister. The filter that you got to change once a year is really cheap (just 10 bugs). And it is more quiet as our old upright vaccum!!
The hole vacuum is a lightweihght and the handle is nice adjustable for taller pepole.
Only one little contra - the cord could be longer, but we have enough poweroutlets in the house.

This is a good product for my needs.
Our household includes four Pekingese, one Yellow Lab, one Persian tabby;all hair ball juggernaughts. We removed all the carpeting [smart move in Florida] and installed tile through out the house.
I have to use the vacuum every day [sometime twice] to keep up with the Pack. It has enough power to grab the pet hair, sand, leaves, what ever they drag in from the yard.
I love the retractable cord, because it is not laying on the floor to trip over. The cord is TOO short in relation to getting around the house, but my house is lacking convienent outlets and I find that contributes to the fact that I have to move the connection several times when I vacuum.
Emptying the canister it TOO easy to. Push a button and it drops into a trash bag and gets tossed out. The pet hair balls hang up in the filter and require more detailed cleaning, but not every time I empty the main canister.
The wand telescopes for easy storage and there is a convienent grip on the hose to make getting into crevices easy.
The on off toggle is big problem. You depress it and it starts to vacuum and then cuts off. You have to start it again to make sure that it is really on. This was the same problem in my first canister, the Dirt Devil Vision and I am surprised they did not correct this condition.

Over all I would recommend this product.
